Aristotle Onassis once said,
"The two criteria for success are to rise early
and to have a good tan."
Since I believe I'm finally in control of my life
this
summer to say that I'm doing both of these well
I suppose that I should
feel that I'm a success!
Hardly!
This quote is very truthful.
In fact, we all certainly feel that
we are putting our best foot forward
when we are most pleased
with our appearance.
And each of us is more likely to
have a successful day
when we've started it with the birds.
Minted Fruit Salad
Early mornings in the summer
seem to beckon us out of doors
where the simplest of foods
become the most flavorful.
Simplicity is the key word here.
Kids and adults alike will feel most pampered
with one or two special items in large quantities.

Heaping stacks of blueberry pancakes
served with mounds of fresh picked strawberries
would rouse the grumpiest of husbands on a Saturday morning.
Or a full basket of soft, warm apple muffins with a mound of crispy bacon to tease a testy three year old back to the table.
Even my older (40ish) friends would feel rejuvenated
by a breakfast of Coladas, Eggnog French Toast
and Fresh Fruit with Mint Leaves!
Try to keep the menu simple - prepare as much as possible in advance.
Coffee pots can be set up the night before,
batters premixed and
refrigerated, eggs beaten and stored in the bowl overnight,
even home fries can be parboiled and chilled, ready for a shake on the griddle...

Just be sure the meal makes it to the table quickly enough
that you can sit yourself down in time to enjoy!
